17 Mile Drive

Here is a stone job we did on 17 mile drive. This was a remodel to one of the first homes built in Pebble Beach back in the '20s. It has amazing views of Stillwater Cove, Carmel Beach and Point Lobos. I believe the original masons were my Great Uncles, the Marotta Brothers. My uncle (and one of my Mentors) Billy Chappell did the stone work on it's first remodel in the '70s. We added this stone Portico along with some stone patios, outside fire-pit and hot tub. Our job was completed a couple years ago. This is the same type of stone as my first post, 'King City Stone'. But on this job they told me to match the other masons work and make it look 100 years old. No Problemo! They're the ones that taught me (passed down thru 3 generations). Look closely at the starting points of the stone arches. They seemingly grow out from the vertical walls. A little Stone Trickery! -JD
